The purpose of the Scheme is to give you an idea of what it might be like to work as a Trainee at Maples and Calder. We therefore make every effort to ensure that you will be exposed to an interesting and diverse range of work and tasks. In Dublin you will complete three one week rotations in different departments. The departments include Corporate, Litigation, Funds, Property and Finance. At the end of each week you will sit down with the senior Associate responsible for your work experience and talk through what you have learned.
We also make sure that during your time with us you will be given varied, interesting work, so that you can make a judgment on whether or not a career in the law and with Maples and Calder is right for you and so we can assess your potential. There will be a number of group exercises as well as plenty of opportunities to socialise with current Trainees and other members of staff.
At the end of the Scheme you will have an exit interview with the Partner responsible for both the Vacation Scheme and for Trainee recruitment to talk through your experience. Those students who have made an outstanding impression will be invited for an interview for a Training Contract in the following Trainee intake.
